Foz Iguaçu


Located in western Parana, the city of Foz do Iguacu is limited to the west with Paraguay and Argentina to the south. With 175m of altitude, is located at the confluence of the Parana and Iguazu rivers, twenty kilometers from Iguassu Falls and 637km of Curitiba. It has hot climate.
Founded under the name Military Colony in 1889 started to grow with the arrival of European settlers to the region. It became a municipality in 1914, when the seat was named Vila Iguaçu, changed in 1918 to Foz do Iguacu. The development has come with tourism and the extraction and export of timber. The construction of the Itaipu hydroelectric plant was another factor of progress. The major points of tourist interest are the Iguazu National Park,
